I don’t know why I just don’t like to keep up with the blog. I have a myriad of excuses and they are all lame, so here is my “let’s catch up” blog.

Since the last blog I had the band Avenues come out to record an EP that I co-wrote with them. It was a really fun time, especially since the singer had an tooth that really made it difficult to even finish. Good times. That EP got the band signed to a publishing deal by Gas Can Music. The also just finished the first video for the EP yesterday. I look forward to working on the next project with them.

I worked out an endorsement of Schecter Guitars. I am really excited to develop that relationship even more. The Ultra VI is a monster of a guitar.

I met artist Joshua Ketchmark through my friend Carl Raether (who has been mention in this blog previously). Joshua and I put together a great EP, which we co-wrote two songs on. Before we were even done, we started planning his full length. Looking forward to more writing with him.

A couple of weeks after we were done, Joshua had asked me to listen to a recording he had done with someone else previously in Nashville that he wasn’t totally happy with. He brought his hard drive by the studio for a listen and he ended up asking me to remix the project. It is kind of different stylistically than the project we did together which made it even more fun for me to mix it.

The studio also played host to a couple of friends who needed a studio. Sumerian Records came by repeatedly. The first time was to finish up the upcoming Emmure record. They were such nice guys and unbelievably clean. (Yeah, it does sound weird)

By buddies Brian Howes and JVP came by to finish mixing the Stellar Revival record for Capitol Records. They are an amazing team that are still doing big rock and the record sounds great! They also came back a couple more times to do songwriting for multiple acts.

After meeting with a couple different management companies, I am happy that I am now working with Riot Act. Rob and Patrick have a good history in the music industry and have a real passion for music. I am stoked for my future with them.

Albion Amps Artist

It’s official. I am an Albion Artist. Albion makes some great amps and cabinets and I feel honored to endorse such a good product. I use the TCT50H, TCT35C, GLS412, GLS212. So far since I have had them, they have been an asset to have. Great tone and super versatility.

I’m guess I’m pretty bad at updates, so here it goes.

I had the opportunity to mix a live show of Usher’s for tv and, I am told, a live dvd. Spent some good time with his Music Director Johnny Najera. I look forward to seeing the final version of it. It was a lot of fun working on.

I spent some time with drummer for Ke$ha, Kill Hannah and My Darling Murder Elias Mallin. We tracked drums for his project My Darling Murder. Since he was in town, he also played drums for a client of mine. He is a joy to be around (now that he smokes electric cigarettes) and track.

I went with my lovely wife to see The Beatles Love by Cirque Du Soleil for my birthday. It was amazing.

I mixed an EP for a LA group Go Sunday!, I mixed an album for Minneapolis Taj Raj, I tracked a song for an ABC pilot (that seems like it’s crazy funny).

I was asked to track at Glenwood Place Studios for the upcoming Macy Gray record. All live, no editing, amazing. Her band is crazy talented of course, but when she went and sang, it made everything shine.

I did some songwriting with artist Lacey Connor and tracked vocals with her. Producer ‘Tadpole’ from Chicago is finishing up her songs.

I am finishing up an EP for Avenues, from Milwaukee, started songwriting with singer Derek Jordan and have some other mixing on the horizon. I hope I keep up with this more often.

Mixing and more mixing

So I mixed and slew of songs since I moved into the new space. I mixed a record for the band Taj Raj from Minneapolis. I had met songwriter / Vocalist Benjamin Burwell almost 8 years ago and was happy that he called me to reconnect. This band should do quite well.

Speaking of doing quite well, I also mixed an EP for the LA band Go Sunday. Its good rock music through and through. I look forward to working with these guys in the future.

Coming up this week is more mixing for the artist Usher.

New Diggs

So I have moved into a new studio space and I love it.

It’s a full studio with a 21 x 15 live room, 11 x 8 isolation booth, control room, lounge and bathroom with a shower.

It has been designed to make people comfortable as soon as they enter the studio. Come check it out and lets make some music.
